Cha-cha-changes!
Whoa-nellie! What a week! They started and finished the bathroom tile. It looks really really good. We also had our countertops installed - the baths and the kitchen. And lastly, they started the tile on the floor. I have to admit that it does look good. I still think the braid pattern would have been awesome but I am not at all disappointed by the tile. I like it quite a bit.
I forgot my camera so pics will have to wait. We have to go back so we can evaluate knobs and pulls. I hope to snap a few pics this weekend and update you all, my loyal fans, soon!
Memorial Day Update
As you might have guessed by our firmed up close date, they are really rocking down there at the house site. The cabinets are in, the electrical plates and covers are on, many of the light fixtures are hanging, the pot rack is in, and the bannisters are done....
This was a really quality product. We watched them install the raw wood and iron and then stain it. It is solid and lovely at the same time.
Tuesday (according to our new/future neighbors who, I am happy to report, seem like lovely people), the pool people came out and turned the orange circle into a big dirt hole. Our neighbors have actually moved in and promised to call the police if they notice people looting our future home. They said the neighborhood is pretty quiet right now with only 2 families living in it.
This week, we also had the bathroom tile started. They are doing all the complex work now - the tub surround and shower stall. The kids baths got their cultured marble sinks and tub surrounds and they are very nice - a good compromise. Well, not really a compromise. They weren't paying so they didn't get to upgrade their bathrooms :) I assume this means they will be getting to the floor tile in not too long. Appliances and toilets have to be coming soon too! Watch for them!
Whoa, baby!
It is with great pleasure I announce the installation of our cabinets, the painting of the house and the install of the roof!
As you can see, I was wrong and Eric was right - the cabinets look great and they were NOT the absolutely most expensive wood, stain and style. I am very happy with them. Now that Eric has had his one good decision in our marriage (aside from getting me) - he is done. No more decisons for him!
This is the house as I left it a few minutes ago. What you can't see is that the pool company came out and spray painted the dirt with the outline of our pool. It looks both bigger on the lot and smaller in size than I expected...... Eric wants to get out there tomorrow to measure the perimeter and make sure we aren't being cheated..... he is delightfully paranoid on this issue and I defer to him on it.
We also received light switches, plate covers, door knobs, bannisters and railings and some of our can lights. Aside from a lack of floor coverings, appliances and fixtures (toilets, sinks, tubs) it looks almost habitable! Here is to hoping that trend continues.
Here are some changes in the neighborhood, in the neighborhood.....
Can you see our newest addition? Yes? No? Garage doors! They aren't connected but the whole mechanism is there for both doors. I was thrilled when I drove by around noon yesterday and saw them moving things in. Last night I tried to get into the place and it was locked up tight. I took this picture with my camera phone, so it isn't the best of quality. But this shows our cabinets going in. I plan to try and bust in there today :)
And lastly, we got a call from the corporate office that they expect our hosue to be done on July 9th and want us to close on that date. If we can get the stars to align, we will be prepping for the move (painting and the like) that week! Woo hoo!
They are really working hard over there!
They finished the interior paint yesterday and it looks.... well, monotone :) There isn't much else to say about it. Our neighbors across the street just got exterior paint and they are about a week ahead of us. So next week there should be a picture of our house in final form (though the landscaping and driveway is yet undone).... but with this big change being simply white paint, I didn't bother to annoy the workers by photographing the interior today :)
