April Showers Bring....
.... Stucco -YEAH-
We have it. In fact, since this picture was a taken a few days ago, we also have our finish coat of stucco too. In fact - lookie here!
We also have doors, trim, and shelving (in the pantry and closets). This is a picture of Emory's closet door, illustrating the trim, door and her 2 shelves. I believe the next step is paint (inside first, then outside) and then they will start locking the doors on us - to prevent theft of our fixtures and cabinets. At that point, I'll have to annoy the workers by showing up with my camera during their work hours so I can see the progress.
We hear that the pool company is itching to dig our pool (they have really made huge progress on our neighbors pool and the bobcat is sitting across the street waiting to get started on our lot). I am hoping they will draw it out this week - I can't really picture where it will go or how big it is going to be so having it painted would really help with perspective.
We also had a peak at the scheduling (EXTREMELY TENTATIVE) and the current projection is for us to get keys July 9th. Since Eric is on vacation that week, it would be ideal. Don't plan to book the Suite just yet though - as with all things, having the house done that week would be so convienent that is it bound not to occur :)
We have had a great weekend in general - book club, house news, a few rounds of Titan's Quest, and the icing on the cake was that we had a showing on our current home. It will probably not amount to anything, but it is really nice just to know that there are people out there searching for a house generally like ours.
The Dog Days are coming.....
...and it will be GOOD to have a pool! Today we went and finalized our choices for the interior of the pool and the decking.
Here is the flagstome colors we chose. This will just be on the edges of the pool, near our water feature.
Our tile choice (this will have wide variations) which will go around the interior edge of the pool :
The BIG kids surprise... a pool, slide grotto... shhhhhh, don't tell! There is also an oversized second step, several umbrella sleeves, and 2 loveseats - 1 under the waterfall.
Here is the acrylic tile colors we chose for our decking.... specifically, we chose the browns (2nd row from the top, both) and the orangish one (third row down, on the right). These will be combined to get a a flagstone looking deck.... cooler on the feet and more slip-resistant that natural stone.
Ultimately this will be the Pebble Sheen color in our pool (Blue Granite).
Yesterday we finalized our landscape plan which looks like a big green lawn in the center, 3 trees in back with uplights, 1 tree in front with uplight, 50 or so small plants and a gate on the RV or right house side.
As for the house, it has been insulated, drywalled, taped, mudded, and yesterday got texture. We are closing in on stucco and trim/paint FAST. In fact, we jumped the pool selections but not by much as the pool folks got our paperwork this morning..... oh..... it is SO within grasp!
IT IS RESOLVED!!!
Well, mostly. We were in battle with Maracay/City of Phoenix - someone - we aren't entirely sure who but we were in battle over our backyard. Essentially we wanted to put our pool where it would take advantage of the view of the mountain. But there was a reveg block RIGHT there. So we thought, "Just move it". Apparently with the Government, it isn't that easy. I know, I know... you'd think I'd have a handle on how bureaucracy works. And Maracay wasn't thrilled to do the extra work that comes with arranging for a change in the permit. But they did. And the landscape company, Sunset, got it together and as a team we managed to have our backyard approved. We will get our pool where we want it. We are reveging the east side of the house (which is the the garbage cans were going to live... I guess now they will have a lovely desert landscape to ) to compensate. I think this mostly has to do with the fact our driveway is SOOOO long, it eats up a large portion of lot.
Now we have the pool people work out their plans with the super. And we get finalized on the landscape plan with Sunset, and it is done.
Oh, did I mention that the drywall is IN now? Insane!!!!
