More January Goodness
It has been real fun watching our house go up. We go there almost every day after Eric is done with work to walk through. Yesterday was another Holiday Present for us..... WINDOWS!
Here is Eric, happily standing in our front yard.
We got a few other additions last week....... an idea of where our kitchen will go and our gas fireplace.
We heard through the grapevine that one of our neighbors has been told they will close in May! Yikes - we think they are only 6 weeks ahead of us. The house that is furthest along got stucco yesterday (it was still wet when we went by). And that is only 2 months ahead of ours! Scary.... but way cool!
What a difference a few days can make....
Here is a picture of our house on Jan 16th......
And here is our House on Jan 18th........
Hard to believe what a big difference just a few days makes!
In response to posts, these pics are from about the same location (though one is from my cell phone camera and one from a regular camera). The appliances will be GE Monogram which come with the house.... gas for the stove top, a convection/microwave, a conventional electric oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. We plan on getting a LG washer and dryer (gas), front loading with steam.
As of today, the house looks just like above, though considerably wetter. Yep, sunny Arizona has disappointed and we have had not just rain but even SNOW over the last few days. The mountains behind our house look lovely. The house lot looks muddy. Eric gave me some smack about El Nino/La Nina..... I dunno. It is hard to begrudge the desert water. The smell of the Sonoran when moist is just so wonderful! I can't tell you how much it makes me happy.
Did you miss me?
Oh how BAD have I been! Nary a word to this blog in over 2 months. Yikes! I am lucky you are still reading. Well, if you ARE reading, you have Jamie Larsen to thank. He called me last week and in true teacher form, gently chastized me for failure to update. OK, Jamie - this Post's for you:)
So after those lines in the desert sand went down there was a LONG pause while the community got a very important feature - paved roads. That took several weeks and no work occurred on homes during this time, understandably enough. It is a real treat to be drive down to the house site on pavement. And now car washes are no longer moot points.
Soon after, those lines morphed into trenches for the electrical, gas and water with form boards and gravel. Looked pretty good to us. (For you East Coasters - this is Eric in shorts in December).
And just 2 weeks ago, we got a foundation. How cool a New Years gift is that?
Two days ago, I drove by the house site and joy of joys - the Framing is going up!

Now the community walls are being finished and it looks awesome. The more I visit, the more I like it. The trees and stone work really spruced the place up.
I saw them pour the concrete for the Ramada today.... so work is coming along.... and as it does, I'll try to be better about posting :)
